As we light this candle, we are reminded that God gave us the greatest love in the little town of Bethlehem in a humble manger.<\/p>\n<p>Reflecting on the scene in Bethlehem, I am reminded that God\u2019s love often comes to us through humble encounters.<\/p>\n<p>We experience God\u2019s love through<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_13029\" style=\"width: 314px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-13029\" class=\" wp-image-13029\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ccano.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/Sara-Lights-the-Bethlehem-Candle-480x477.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"304\" height=\"302\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ccano.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/Sara-Lights-the-Bethlehem-Candle-480x477.jpg 480w, https:\/\/www.ccano.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/Sara-Lights-the-Bethlehem-Candle-134x133.jpg 134w, https:\/\/www.ccano.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/Sara-Lights-the-Bethlehem-Candle.jpg 666w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 304px) 100vw, 304px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-13029\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Sara lights the second candle on the Advent wreath, the Bethlehem Candle.<\/p><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>the stranger on the street who says, \u201cmorning,\u201d<\/li>\n<li>the chatty neighbor who is always willing to help you out,<\/li>\n<li>a friend who gives the best hugs,<\/li>\n<li>a family member who listens and comforts,<\/li>\n<li>a child holding your hand,<\/li>\n<li>a colleague who really wants to know \u201chow are you doing,\u201d<\/li>\n<li>a relationship with someone unexpected.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We witness God\u2019s love in<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the family thankful for comfort and peace,<\/li>\n<li>those with little who give anyways,<\/li>\n<li>those who make the extra effort to make someone else feel special,<\/li>\n<li>a room full of people, from different places and with different experiences, laughing and enjoying one another,<\/li>\n<li>the neighborhood children enjoying their new playground,<\/li>\n<li>the patience of a teacher or a mentor,<\/li>\n<li>the eager students wanting to learn,<\/li>\n<li>those seeking a second chance,<\/li>\n<li>those who are struggling and need our support.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A few Sundays ago I sat in church behind a young family who lives with the reality that at any moment they can be separated from one another. As I watched them hugging, talking, smiling, thankful for another day together, I was overcome with the presence of God\u2019s love.
