Catholic Charities’ Food for Seniors is in Dire need of Volunteers Tuesday, July 21 through Friday, July 24.<\/p>\n

Volunteers are needed to make boxes and pack food for our most vulnerable- Senior Citizens.<\/p>\n

*Please note\u00a0that this is a warehouse and is not air conditioned so light clothing, closed toed shoes, and masks are required. We will have plenty of water, sanitizer, social distancing, and appreciation for those who step up to assist in this effort. We ask that only healthy individuals sign-up for this project and those who have been in the presence of individuals who have tested positive for COVID-19, to remain at home.<\/p>\n

CCANO, Second Harvest, St. Charles Parish Government, Salvation Army, National Guard and St. Charles Sheriff’s Office to Host Food Distribution on Thursday, May 21 at 9AM<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Food Distribution will take place on Thursday, May 21 beginning at 9AM at the Dufresne Center, 274 Judge Edward Dufresne Parkway in Luling 70070.<\/p>\n

Recipients may begin arriving at the Dufresne Center parking lot for the distribution at 9AM. Recipients will be required to remain in their vehicles with windows rolled up during the event.<\/span><\/p>\n

Food Distribution will be limited to drive-through recipients only and the distribution will be limited to one household per vehicle.<\/p>\n

Recipients are asked to place a laundry basket, a box, or medium sized ice-chest in their vehicle trunk to accept the food items to be distributed.<\/p>\n

It has estimated that there will be enough food to distribute to 600 vehicles.\u00a0 We will distribute food until we run out!<\/p>\n

Catholic Charities will begin accepting donations of non-perishable foods for their food pantry on April 29 on Wednesdays from 10AM \u2013 2PM at 2505 Maine Ave, Metairie\u00a0 70003.<\/p>\n

With the disruption in the distribution chain due to the coronavirus pandemic, CCANO requests that all clients who have signed up to receive boxes through its Food for Seniors Program pick them up at the following locations:<\/p>\n

Eastbank: 7649 Townsend Place, New Orleans<\/p>\n

8AM-1PM Monday-Friday<\/p>\n

Westbank: 1245 First Street, Harvey<\/p>\n

9AM – 2PM Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday<\/p>\n

12-5PM on Wednesday<\/p>\n

If seniors are unable to go out for the pick-up, someone can pick up the boxes on their behalf.<\/p>\n

In this case, seniors should provide a note indicating they\u2019ve given permission for their box to be picked up.<\/p>\n

Food for Seniors is currently accepting enrollments for those who meet economic need and are 60+ years of age.<\/p>\n

We\u2019re continuing all services for clients except those that absolutely require an in-person group service model, namely the legal clinic for new intakes\/legal consultations for new clients.<\/p>\n

Everything else has transitioned to occur remotely. We\u2019re continuing all our individual legal representation, case management, counseling, and employment and literacy services remotely.<\/p>\n
