Therapeutic Family Services<\/h1>\n

Open your heart, open your home.<\/em><\/h3>\n

Therapeutic Family Services (TFS) contracts with the Department of Children and Family Services to provide therapeutic foster homes for children in foster care. TFS collaborates with other agencies involved with the child, such as the psychiatrist for medication management, school officials for education and therapist for individual\/family therapy services. TFS staff is on-call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.<\/p>\n

TFS staff performs home visits with the foster parent and foster child at least on a bi-monthly basis or more when necessary. TFS foster parents have the number of each TFS staff member to contact for any issues that may arise at any time.<\/p>\n

TFS offers in-service training bi-monthly to keep foster parents updated on services and related information. The in-service training also provides a place for foster parents to interact with other foster parents and discuss any issues\/problems that arise with the foster children in their home.<\/p>\n

TFS staff collaborates with other agencies to ensure the therapeutic child and the TFS families are receiving the best of care. TFS parents strive to create child-hood experiences for children who would not have otherwise had these valuable experiences.<\/p>\n

Become a Foster Parent<\/h3>\n

TFS continues to recruit families who are willing to accept therapeutic children into their homes. TFS parents ensure that all of the child’s needs are being met while in their home. The challenges are many, but the rewards are great. TFS parents receive a monthly board rate and salary for each child in their home.<\/p>\n

Eligibility Criteria:<\/h4>\n
    \n
  • Be married, single or divorced with an established support system<\/li>\n
  • Be at least 21 years of age, but not older than 65<\/li>\n
  • Own or rent your home<\/li>\n
  • Pass a State Police background check<\/li>\n
  • Pass a drug screen<\/li>\n
  • Pass a physical exam<\/li>\n
  • Obtain clearance from the State Central Registry<\/li>\n
  • Have a high school diploma and\/or college education<\/li>\n
  • Complete 36 hours of training to become certified<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
